Has anyone answered the obgyn’s prenatal questionnaire for depression?
Hey all, FTM and 1st trimester. I just filled out my obgyn’s questionnaire for my first prenatal visit. I found 3 questions are used to detect depression if you score a 3 or higher on a set of questions. This is know as the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale.
Here are the questions:
- I have blamed myself unnecessarily when things went wrong
- I have been anxious or worried for no good reason
- I have felt scared or panicky for no very good reason
When I read those questions, they seem to infer a presence of anxiety versus depression. In any case, with all the hormones changing, I have felt extremely anxious and panicked without reason. I do not feel depressed though. Taking b6 has oddly helped me so far.
Is anyone familiar with this scale & what to do if you score above the threshold? Any advice from anyone who was panicked or anxious without reason would be extremely helpful.
