State of the Season: Regression or Just Bad Luck?

Been running mostly Magik, Blade, Venom, and occasionally Loki (RIP—feels like the devs have a personal vendetta). Also dabbling with Ultron here and there.

Anyway, the overall game state feels like it’s regressed to Season 1. Players are trying to fill comps, sure—but they rarely seem to know what their role actually is. Objectives get ignored, over-pushing is rampant, staggering is constant, and people dive into fights that make zero sense. It’s always been a thing, but this season, it seems to be way more pronounced.

A few gems:

• Plat II match where our Spider-Man spent the entire game trying to 1v1 a Groot. Never won.
• Another match vs. four fliers (Ultron, Iron Man, Storm, Human Torch). My friend and I were strategists. Our team locked Magik, Blade, Thor, and The Thing—refused to switch, then blamed us for not healing anyone.
• When we’re not playing strategists, the ones we get seem to forget what the health bars mean. 90% of the time, if I'm playing Venom, I'll swing back to our Jeff for heals and he'll sprays me for maybe a second before just taking off, like he's late for some urgent meeting or something. I'll go from 100HP to maybe 250HP and then get ignored.

Tunnel vision is brutal too. I’ve been mid-fight, losing hard, and watched teammates walk right past me—no assist, no peel, even when I’m playing a strategist. Sometimes, this happens right outside of our spawn too.

Matchmaking’s also been wild. We keep getting paired against teams with multiple Grandmasters and Celestials from past seasons, while our squad peaks at Plat I. It’s felt way more lopsided than usual, though maybe that’s just anecdotal.

Not every match is a disaster—we had a solid win streak for a while, sitting at a 68% win rate. Now we’re hovering around 40%. Still having fun, but figured I’d share some observations on how this season’s been feeling.

As an added bonus, one thing I have been impressed with recently, has been the in-game chat. I'd say a good 70% of the matches we've been in has been pretty positive. Lots of casual conversations going on and nobody being told that they are the bane of everyone's existence and should uninstall the game and never play anything ever again. Maybe that's been the biggest change this season.
