Has anyone been helped by antidepressants (amitriptyline, duloxetine)?

I've heard some good reviews about amitriptyline, but I don't want to take it casually. It's an old-fashioned antidepressant with a lot of side effects. At the same time, I am bothered by periodic nagging pain. In the Netherlands, I was prescribed a blood test and a scrotal ultrasound, and the results showed nothing. I'm at a dead end with my treatment.
