PGT-M results for two different genetic conditions (Success story)

ER

Hi everyone! Reading other stories on here helped me to get an idea of what my possible outcome would be so I’m sharing mine in case it helps others also!

We (30F, 34M) pursued IVF because we already knew that we were both carriers of the same autosomal recessive condition. We still did genetic carrier screening and found out that I was also the carrier of an X-linked recessive condition. So we went through the process of creating the probes which took 6 weeks.

We were dealing with PCOS and severe MFI so I was really anxious about the outcome especially since my RE wanted to do a random start protocol and the expected attrition due to PGT-M. I stimmed for a total of 10 days with retrieval on day 12.

ER Results:

39 eggs retrieved, 34 mature, 25 fertilized, 15 blasts.

We got the PGT-M/A results within 3 weeks. Of the 15 blasts we sent for testing, 1 was a no result so we were left with 14 results. We have the option to re-biopsy the no result in the future but we are holding off on that for now.

PGT-A:

14/14 euploid

PGT-M:

3/14 positive for autosomal recessive condition

3/14 positive for X-linked recessive condition

7/14 carriers for autosomal recessive condition

1/14 negative for both conditions

So we have 8 embryos that we will be prioritizing first for transfers. If we are not successful we will transfer the embryos that are positive for the X-linked recessive condition.

We are very happy with our results and hope that this will provide some hope to others going through the same!
