What is an appropriate response to a guy that takes a day or more to respond to a text?

Went on a date with a guy who initially said he couldn’t wait to see me again after we first exchanged numbers. Went on a date, both said we had a great time and he said we should try another place for our next date. No communication the next day, two days later I texted him to see how his weekend was going. He responded and asked me the same. I responded and then he didn’t text again until 9 days later, asking where I been. Kind of weird, I just said I’ve been here and what about him and he responded he’d been crazy busy with work but he’d been thinking about me. Long story short he says he wants to see each other again but when I try to make conversation he responded a day or more later.

I know actions tell you the true character of a person. If I am interested in someone I am attentive and when someone behaves the way he does I just don’t feel like responding anymore. To the men, is it simply he’s not interested and reaching out when bored? So I just ignore him going forward or express we can reconnect when/if the communication changes.
