What worked & still works for me
Hi everyone! Im going to be very quick with my post.
I had PD flareups multiple times throughout my life (25F), mostly peaking this year, where I had PD nearly all year. I'm sharing all things that I tried and helped me get rid of it completely:
- i tried zero therapy, which only made my flareups worse. I had my PD flare up and expand on different parts of my face. It took a long time to heal which wasnt even that great, I do not reccommend this approach at all.
- i believe PD has an outside trigger, but the inside (your body and the way it functions) plays the biggest role - i made it my mission to eat nutrient dense foods like eggs, sardines (i eat them twice a week), salmon, lots of veggies and fruits, i have overnight soaked chia seeds (10g) every day. I didnt cut out sugar but I dont reach for it as much.
- my skincare routine (both morning and night) is the following:
- wash face with Bioderma gel cleanser for sensitive skin
- wash face with sulfur soap, make it foamy and let it sit 3-4 mins (yes it stinks, yes it dries out the skin, but this is the only thing that has helped me)
- pat dry face and let it dry on its own completely
- apply azelaic acid on whole face, especially parts with PD
- apply moisturiser on all areas of face that DONT have PD (i use cetaphil ultra moisturizing cream)
- apply zinc moisturizer cream on areas with PD or scars/redness
- i paused going to the gym until my outbreaks are completely healed, as I noticed that the gym plays a big role in my recovery time.
- i take the following supplements:
- immunity defense (1/morning with beta glucane, vitamin C, zinc, selenium) 30 mins before breakfast
- omega 3 & 4000 UI vitamin D3 with breakfast
- iron (twice a week)
- magnesium before sleeping -drink lots of teas (i recommend nettle, mint, ginger with lemon)
- i wash my face with head&shoulders shampoo twice a week when I wash my hair, so it gets rid of fungal acne and aids PD recovery.
Hope this helps anybody!
