Looking for a game to scratch a particular itch (like Eve...but not Eve)

Hey all, I'm a 40something gamer who's been playing MMO's with my wife since 1999.. We've played just about every major MMO there is out there to play (EQ1 & 2, SWG, Horizons, SWTOR, Guildwars 1&2, FFXIV, WoW, Archage, Aion, Blade & Soul, Eve, even Minecraft & Roblox with the kids for a while...and many others I can't think of atm..)

Out of all of those, Eve is the only 1 I really played by myself. I just couldn't seem to get the wife into the whole space genre as she's more of a fantasy gamer. The issue is the specific itch im trying to scratch, I've only really been able to satisfy in Eve, and that's basically just being a small cog in a large machine. I really enjoyed the mining & industrial aspects of Eve, sitting in small groups, mining rocks, transporting them back to our corporation's base where the resources would be used to produce ships or equipment which was used by a sub-division of the corporation for large scale pvp conflicts etc. I felt that my endless grind, was useful not just to amass credits, but to other people.

I guess what I'm looking for boils down to Eve-like mechanics, but in a fantasy setting. Archage was close, with the farming & trade runs, but a) its dead, and b) it was really just for solo profits, it didn't feel like the goods you farmed went to any real use...

I'd love a game where the community needs to keep a city up and running for instance. Where someone farms wheat for bread, someone else mines stone for bricks, someone else specializes in transport & distribution etc etc, where it genuinely feels like your grind is going towards a greater good... If anyone knows of anything like that, suggestions would be much appreciated!
