Can my Red Dot in a Blue State town successfully push anti-lgbtq+ laws or provisions?
Good afternoon,
I live in CT, which is obviously a blue state. However, I live in a red town, and it seems very likely that the Republicans will win this election.
The people running have some very backwards ideas. Some are in favor of banning books, removing LGBTQ+ equality measures from schools and elsewhere, and even support conversion therapy. This town has successfully banned the pride flag from appearing on town government property and has ended the DEI committee.
But, because this is CT, a state with various LGBTQ+ protections, could the Republicans in my town actually successfully achieve the goals that I listed above (and others like them)? I did some research, and it said that they cannot due to the protections in CT, but I am feeling like this may not be true.
So, I decided to double check with the very intelligent people here.
I really don't like this town. My church is amazing, so I'd like to someday live somewhere close enough where I can visit, but I can't live in this place for my whole life.
Thank you for everyone's help as always. I hope you are all doing well.
