How many of you know Dr. Josef Mengele?

There was recently a bit of controversy at my work, where the majority opinion was that most people under 30 in Germany have never heard of Mengele, let alone what he did.

Is this true in your case? What do you think about this situation? And if it is true, what could be the underlying cause of this ignorance? Do you think it is right or wrong that this is the case (if it is indeed the case)? I’m very curious about this and tbh don’t know what to think.
