Do I need a Spike with the VC Titan22?

Looking to get a VC Titan22 for a bench shooting setup and I've seen that most people who get the Titan22 also get the Spike. Is it that important to have? I know that VC says it keeps the receiver more stable, but it seems like theyre the only company who does something like that.
