Has anyone else noticed the rise is “quick-fix” trumpet courses lately?
Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of trumpet “systems” and gadgets promising instant high notes or a new embouchure that’ll change everything overnight.
As a teacher, I started putting together my own set of materials based on the fundamentals — Cichowicz flow studies, Arban, Clarke, Schlossberg — to help my students stay grounded in what actually works long-term.
I’m curious how others here approach this. Do you ever feel your students (or yourself) get distracted by the “one weird trick” stuff online? What have you found keeps your practice grounded in real fundamentals?
If anyone’s interested in seeing how I organize my materials, I’ve posted everything publicly on my site (no paywall, no calls, just info): ryanhobbstrumpetplayer.com.
I’d genuinely love feedback from other teachers and comeback players — especially if you’ve been frustrated by the quick-fix culture too.
