Reasonable Adjustments and Occupational Health: PPA from home
I am an EYFS teacher with chronic health conditions/disabilities (ASD, ADHD, ME, POTs, asthma, mental health struggles and suspected Chrons disease).
As a child, I was referred to as ‘high functioning’. I am constantly praised for how well I am doing at work and people are always very shocked when I disclose my health and disability status.
The issue is the burn out I am facing out of school. I don’t eat dinner every day because I go home and go straight to bed. My weekends are spent asleep for 90% of the day. I have no social life and my mental health is beginning to decline because ALL I do is go to work!
I have an OH meeting next week and am worried that there will be push back as they aren’t seeing any of my ‘struggle’ at school. I don’t want to be seen as selfish for requesting additional support at work when I don’t actually need support while I’m at work if that makes sense.
I think the thing that would have the BIGGEST impact on my burn out would be to take my ECT time from home but I don’t know how realistic of a request this is/if school will think I am taking the piss.
Other than the obvious, what are some RAs that have made a big difference to you?
