Husband (27m) asked me (28f) to take off fake freckles. Am I being immature?
Me (28F) and my husband (27M) recently moved to a new area (been dating for 7 years, married for 1). It's more liberal and urban than where I lived before and been feeling a little more emboldened style wise.
Today before we left for some errands I put on fake freckles. He hasn't seen me with them before but I've worn them to parties at conventions before. I like the look and feel cute with them.
When we got back he asked that I take them off because he feels like he's looking at a child.
I took them off but it felt like a little bit of a gut punch. I'm trying to mentally balance expressing my style, feeling good and keeping his feelings in mind. I think it hurt because it's a style I like and I know he wishes I wore different makeup - most bold, high glam kind of stuff. I'm already self conscious about being "his style of woman" and this just feels like it feeds into that. He doesn't compliment me or my style very often and I feel like I have to dress up to get his attention or for him to like my physical appearance.
Not sure how to feel. Is this just pure insecurity coming out? Am I being immature?
