18 y/o trying to fix deep bite-thoughts on myo-functional aligners?
Hey everyone, I’m 18 and currently looking into ways to correct a deep bite properly and for good. My orthodontist gave me two options: – a rigid appliance from molar to molar with a small screw mechanism to open the bite –a silicone device that he said works in a more natural and balanced way. I went with the silicone one.
He didn’t explain much about how it works, but after reading online, I realized it’s probably a myofunctional aligner that’s supposed to improve muscle function and oral posture.
What I really want is to solve the problem permanently, not just manage symptoms. And even though it might sound a bit superficial, the bite issue also affects how my face looks — both from the front and the side — so I’d like to understand if improving function can also help balance those aspects with time. Has anyone around my age had success with this kind of device? I’d love to hear any real experiences or long-term outcomes.
Thanks a lot for reading and for any response!
P.S. I apology for the ChatGPT written post but English is not my native language and I wouldn’t be able to express my thoughts in any other way.
