How do Mormons/ex-Mormons feel about the Palestinian people?

I'm not Mormon or ex-Mormon. My husband and I are Palestinian Christians, and our neighbors are ex-Mormons. The father has said a few insulting things to my husband in the hall when they are alone, passing by, or getting the mail.

I'm just trying to understand if this is something that is part of the beliefs in a roundabout way or if this guy is just a jerk! I have known an ex-Mormon family in the past, and they were so nice and I got along well with them. I hope that this isn't coming across as offensive, as that is not my intent.
