The BYND dilution is not what you think
Yes the short squeeze drastically changed and our short term explosion potential was exchanged for a 2026 runway with less cash burn.
Institutions are clearly loading up to cost average down their positions you know something they would do.
The long term hold on BYND is looking more like a reasonable play instead of the quick ride up and fast ride down that may or may not have occurred.
In the last 24 months institutions scooped up 8.2M shares at 50-70% off their old costs, with big jumps in Q3. There were some sellers but the buyer tally is more dominate. Institutions see the runway extension as steal for 2027 breakeven. It was not the shorts we were fighting it was the previous investors IMO(Disclaimer: This is my read on the patterns—retail traps and long exits were real, but no filings pin it solely on prior holders. DYOR on the exchange docs).
To be clear the naked shorts and the dark pool activity may have very well been the institutions that were holding before we entered. Driving the price down to shake us off their discounted re entries. Disclaimer: SI spikes >100% and ~57% dark pool volume scream hidden action (per Ortex/Reddit DD), but it's speculative—no SEC proof ties it directly to institutions dumping. Could be MMs/shorts too; check Fintel for the raw data
After researching the public data I think this has changed my mind on the short term mission. Yes a short is still possible but more importantly we do not want to get shaken off so our shares can be scooped up by Blackrock or the likes to average their positions down.
If there is a long term play we have all entered lower than the institutions which is still a fantastic investment opportunity. Yes I would have loved to see Ken Griffin lose more money but stealing re entries from Blackrock and the likes will work for me too.(Disclaimer: Citadel clawed back most short losses post-dump (no net wipeout confirmed)
The more I think about the early reports and the instant dismissal of the fundamentals of BYND the more I think this becomes clear. There was a lot of misinformation going in so many directions I myself made a mistake understanding the dilution. I am not an expert if I misled anyone I will own that and for that I am sorry. That was never my intention I was trying to understand this situation like everyone else. I have added disclaimers on data that is not 100% factual. I decided to try to do some DD research and it was posted before I doubled checked the data. In doing so I noticed the institutional data and well I think it speaks volumes. Of course you should do your own research and verify but it is worth your time to dig into the fillings.
