Knitting with a hurt thumb?

Hey everyone, today I made the amazing decision to get attacked by a random totally uncontrolled dog on the beach and as a result the tendon on my dominant hand is injured, possibly (hopefully not) ruptured. I need a gift finished by mid november that I'm horribly behind on, so really hoping to either tough it out or figure out how to knit without that thumb. Piece is being knit in the round.

Any advice?
