It started as a forgotten file — a low-resolution image hidden deep within an abandoned hard drive labeled “Footage\_81.” No one knew who created it, or why. The thumbnail alone was enough to make most people scroll past — a warped face, too smooth to be human, with hollow, circular eyes and a grin that seemed to stretch far beyond what a mouth should allow.

But the real horror began when someone opened it.

According to old forum posts, the image wasn’t just still. Some users swore the eyes flickered, following their cursor across the screen. Others reported that the VHS static in the background started to move, like a recording trying to breathe. One claimed they could hear faint whispering through their speakers — a soft hiss that said their name.

The image was soon deleted from every major site that hosted it. Each time, moderators would vanish from the platform days later. Their accounts would remain active, posting strange messages filled with blacked-out characters and timestamps. One recurring phrase appeared beneath every post:

“It smiled first.”

To this day, no one knows where Footage\_81 came from — or if it was ever a photo at all. Some say it’s a still from a lost tape, one that records you once you’ve looked into its eyes.

So if you ever see the face again… close your screen. Don’t stare back.

Because it’s already smiling — and now, it knows you.
