Thinking a trying again after 3 years away.

I messed around a little already and reached the 1st city after tutorial island. It was fun enough.

I have 2 questions :

1. how is the economy for a new player ? are there gathering and/or crafting profession that can make descent money without a crazy grind ? (I'm realistic here, I'm not asking to make top money in a month, just enough to get by without grinding too much).

2. is inventory management as bad as it used to be ? I found the inventory screen ugly and the icons are to read, but is inventory space still a big issue ?
