I’ve been underpaid by a large amount.
Hello everyone, I’m hoping someone can give me some advice on a situation I’m feeling very anxious about.
About 3 months ago I started a full time job. This is my first big job since I left uni and I was incredibly excited about it. However I have been paid incorrectly every month.
I am paid pro rata as my role cannot be completed for certain months of the year. My first month my employer did not pay me my holiday pay and expressed they would pay this in my second pay packet. Month 2 comes around and when I am paid once again my holiday pay has been missed and I am now missing around £360 of unpaid holiday.
This afternoon I had a notification to say I had been paid and when I checked my payslip I have been underpaid by over £600. This is a combination of holiday pay, overtime and contracted hours.
I am an anxious person In general but having to repeatedly talk to my manager about my pay is causing me a lot of stress. We don’t have a HR department or Finance department and my manager works out pay herself each month. I cannot email her about my pay as she does not allow messages about pay outside of work hours so I have to discuss these matters with her in person and I find it incredibly awkward.
I know I should probably start looking for another job but does anyone have any advice in the meantime?
