FINAL: Michigan Tech (7-2, 4-1 GLIAC) defeats Roosevelt (1-7, 0-5 GLIAC), 56-31
The Huskies drop 56 points on the scoreboard in back to back weeks, taking down the Roosevelt Lakers at Sherman Field today. Elliott Larner was the starter again today with Alex Bueno still out, finishing his day with a passing line of 14/23, 195 yds., TD, as well as 13 rushing attempts for 95 yards and a touchdown. Nic Nora had himself a day, with 3 catches for 53 yards, 6 rushes for 59 yards and a touchdown, and a 47-yard punt return. Ethan Champney also had a great performance today (7 catches, 110 yds., TD), and running backs Jake Rueff and Cam Cornett both had a rushing touchdown. The defense had a rough first half, with the Lakers actually leading 24-21 after two quarters, but came up big in the second half with two forced fumbles and six total tackles for loss on the day.
In other GLIAC news, Saginaw Valley State dropped their first conference game of the year to Davenport, meaning MTU and SVSU are now tied for 2nd in the GLIAC at 4-1, while Davenport and GVSU trail behind at 4-2 and 3-2 respectively. Despite keeping it close early, Northern Michigan couldn't hold on against Ferris State, who improves to 5-0 and will likely remain the #1 team in the country.
The Huskies play their last road game of the regular season next week as they had to Allendale to play Grand Valley State in a game that could have massive ramifications for the GLIAC standings and MTU's playoff hopes. The game kicks off at 2pm EDT on November 8th, and can be listened to on 93.5 The Mix or watched on FloCollege. The Huskies then conclude their regular season at home against SVSU on November 15th.
