[M4F] Ted Lasso-esque coach helps the girls of the cheer team find their competitive edge and win nationals. They help him get over his divorce in a way that only a gaggle of smoking hot, college-aged babes possibly can.
Howdy! I figure I’d give a little intro before diving into the scene. As my name suggests, I’m looking for an upbeat, wholesome harem roleplay. This one would be between an older man and a gaggle of college cheerleaders. If you’ve seen Ted Lasso, this is obviously heavily based off of the show, but watching it isn’t a prerequisite of writing a response to this prompt. I don’t want to play Ted Lasso specifically, but I’m picturing a character that’s largely similar: Kind, patient, a little quirky but not immune to marital issues that come from his unwavering optimism. I’d also love it if that the women that make up the team had character traits that make them feel real.
While he doesn’t know much about cheerleading (and neither do I), I picture my character helping the girls that make up the team through honest emotional support, life lessons and the like. Differing from the show, I’d like the fact that he’s going through a pretty painful divorce with the love of his life to be a lot more known to the team. They see the hurt in his smile when he helps them wipe their own tears.
How the harem elements come into play is up in the air, but I definitely prefer it being something that lasts a while, whether that’s from a slow build up or suddenly coming into being like the flipping a light switch after the team wins nationals. I’m not really looking for it to stem from any sort of predatory tactics employed by my character, but that’s not to say that the sex has to be vanilla and bland. Who knows, maybe my charming coach character isn't as innocent and harmless as he seems...
I really prefer DMs and can’t promise I’ll read any chats. Please be descriptive and come with ideas. What I have below is just a general overview of one possible way this story goes, but it doesn't have to follow this and glosses over a lot of scenes that would be important for a truly rich plot. I've also left out the smut, so you'll have to work out with me what that'll look like once you message me. I’m excited to hear from you and thanks in advanced for reading, replying and for any feedback!
I had been coaching these young women through tumbles and tosses and various routines for the better part of three months. To say that I came into the job with much experience would be a gross understatement, but I was just thrilled to be coaching and mentoring young athletes again.
I had coached basketball for both men and women for years. First at smaller universities, only a year or two at a time, then at major D1 schools. Despite a meteoric rise that culminated in me taking the team to back-to-back Final Fours, over the next two seasons the team fell apart. I couldn’t pull the young men that I was coaching up from the rut they were in and I was let go between seasons.
Finding another job hadn’t been easy. In fact, not a single team in the country seemed to want me after such an embarrassing pair of seasons. Not even smaller teams. However, I was lucky enough to receive a call from Alabama. But the offer wasn’t for their basketball program! I was being offered a position as the head coach for their all-women cheer team. It wasn’t my wheelhouse, but I wasn’t exactly in a position to deny the job.
The two years of failure after a career of highs put incredible strain on my marriage, and despite finding a new position, my wife, ever the pragmatist, was at a breaking point with my smile-in-the-face-of-adversity attitude. She’d known me since we were in school together, and had always thought my biggest flaw was my unrealistic positivity. It stung, because I loved her, but if it was what she needed…
I started my job with the cheer team the same day that I received divorce papers in the mail. It made my morning coffee bitter, dulled the sounds of the birds chirping on my walk to the gym from the parking garage and soured my smile the smallest bit when I introduced myself to the girls. I muddled through and toughened up but it wasn’t easy. I was met with skepticism as I joined the program, being completely new to cheer, but I did my best to radiate confidence and excitement. At the very least, it was enough to get my foot in the door.
I quickly realized that the girls that made up this team were a truly special group of women. Of course they had a bevy of interpersonal issues that spilled into their sport. The girls didn’t always trust one another because of ongoing sorority feuds. Some of them struggled with body image despite being fit and lithe. Others found it hard to balance school, cheer and their social lives. It took long hours, weeks of effort and a significant amount of time to have the girls warm up to me, but I slowly was able to start helping them all, little by little.
Danielle finally rectified some longstanding issues with her sister, reconnecting after years of being alienated and distant. All it took was helping her realize that the past is the past but the future could be anything. Blake and Christina settled not only their differences on the cheer team but found leadership and confidence. Naming them both co-captains ended their feud and forced them to work together where they learned to appreciate one another. Zoe broke up with her long distance boyfriend and found enough free time to bring her grades back up. It wasn't easy, but helping her prioritize herself rather than a relationship that wasn't going anywhere got her in the right place. Skepticism about me as a coach started to dry up as the girls began to find happiness in their personal lives and passion for cheer. Routines that were 'impossible' became a breeze as the girls started to perform to the potential I saw in them all along.
We might have been the underdogs going into nationals, but we made it and that was noteworthy for a team that didn't have much in the way of prospects at the start of the year. There were bumps in the road, but getting off of the plane and being able to turn back to smile at my squad made everything seem a little bit more manageable. I told them that it wasn't about how loud they made the crowd, but how proud they made the crowd. Of course, I wasn't totally sure what that meant myself, but it just felt right to say.
Our first routine wasn't perfect, and put us in a dangerous place in the standings to begin with. "We're down, but we sure ain't out." I told the girls in the small hotel conference room after day 1 of the three day event. We still had what we all considered our best routine at our disposal. Although we also still had to survive the scores that would come from what had to be the routine that was the weakest. After a heart-to-heart with the girls, I went back to my hotel room to plan for the next day. On my way back, Jenna, who had the room next to me, caught me typing out and deleting messages to my soon-to-be ex-wife. The three minutes we stood outside of her door, talking about my marriage felt like three hours. I asked her not to make a fuss about bringing back up my divorce to the other girls, wished her a good night and slipped into my hotel room to review notes I had made about the other teams who had made it this far at Nationals.
Day two of competition was a roller coaster. The girls tumbled and danced and cheered up and down in the standings. We never quite took any leads, but were still in it enough to keep on cheering. Because of our draw, which determined when in each round a team would present their routines, we had the fortunate position of going last in the rotation. However, we had the disadvantage of being in dire straights going into the final round. Five teams would make it through to the final day, and we needed one hell of a score just to sneak into fifth. The decision I was faced with wasn't an easy one, and all of the girls knew it: Burn our best routine and hopefully get into the finals; where we'd have to use our very worst routine, or cheer with something that we all knew would get us eliminated. "Champions or bust" I muttered under my breath as I submitted our last routine to the judges.
Our best was good enough to get us into the finals, but the last routine we could use in competition was something that we all had the least amount of confidence in. A single ninety-second cheer routine was all we had to get through. We'd had an incredible showing and no matter what might happen, I was going to be proud of these brilliant young women. I told them all of that, and what came next could only be described as a miracle: Every turn was flawless, every move hit perfectly. They had fun, they smiled and they enjoyed cheerleading in a way I never had seen before. I was already tearing up with pride before the announcer even read off "The University of Alabama" as the winning team. A trophy didn't mean much when these girls had done so well for themselves.
That night, we all let loose. I took the team out to dinner, we enjoyed the host city and had an impromptu series of toasts and roasts to commemorate our incredible season together back at the hotel. I was in tears all over again when Blake and Christina gave a speech thanking me for all the support I gave them, despite all of the things that I had happening in my personal life. It was more revealing than I would have wanted, but nothing the girls didn't already know, and it came with good intentions. One more glass of champagne capped off the night. Or so I thought...
Later that night, I heard a knock on the door to my hotel room. Answering it, I suddenly found one of my star cheerleaders leaping into my arms with a barrage of 'Thank you'-s and the like. I didn't even get a good look at her face to know who it was (One of the issues with having so many blondes on one squad!) before I realized there was a whole flock of others walking in behind her. When I finally steered her away from me and set her down, I suddenly felt a pair of lips press to mine. Caught off-guard, I stumbled back onto the bed, sitting on the edge of it but the kiss never broke. Finding myself in such an electrified make out session with a woman young enough to be my own daughter was not how I expected the night to end. I was so busy trying to figure out which girl would kiss me in front of all her teammates that I didn't notice that three others had sunk to their knees and crammed themselves in the space between my thighs...
