Anyone taking Calcium Alpha-Ketoglutarate (Ca-AKG) long-term? How’s your experience?
I noticed that Bryan Johnson lists Calcium Alpha-Ketoglutarate (Ca-AKG) among his top 3 supplements for longevity.
After doing a bit of research, I decided to try it myself — bought the powder form so I could start with a low dose and gradually increase to around 500 mg a day.
When mixed in water, it’s drinkable but tastes quite pungent and acidic. The real mistake I made was trying a small scoop directly in my mouth and swallowing it with water — it burned my throat, and the irritation lasted for about 3 days! Since then, I’ve paused taking it because I’m not sure if it’s too harsh or if I should buffer it somehow.
I’m curious — has anyone here been using Ca-AKG consistently for a month or more? How’s your stomach tolerance, and do you mix it with anything to reduce the acidity?
