PSA about Firebending - Its Color Identity and Triggered Mana Abilities

Discussion

We're getting a lot of spoilers now for the Avatar set and my personal play group has been asking me a few questions about Firebending, so I put THIS video together to clear up some of the questions they had and that I saw others asking about here on Reddit. If video's aren't your thing, here is the written version.

Firebending, like on the card [[Azula, Ruthless Firebender]], does have the red mana symbol show up on the non-extended art version of the card, but that doesn't mean that the ability gives a red Color Identity to the card that it's on. There is a classic example of Extort being on cards like [[Crypt Ghast]] and it still showing up in a mono-black deck (CR 702.101a). The reason for this is that the mana symbols there are in the Reminder Text of the cards and there are certain parts of cards that have no game function (CR 207.2) like specifically the Reminder Text for certain abilities (CR 207.2a). So feel free to run that Azula in your [[Minthara, Merciless Soul]] and [[Daxos the Returned]] decks for additional Experience Counters even though they don't have red Identity.

Another thing to note about Firebending, it is not a Triggered Mana Ability (CR 605.1b) as there are three requirements a TA must meet to be considered a Mana Ability and it only meets two of the three. The Event that triggers Firebending is attacking with the creature. This is important to know because Mana Abilities do not use the Stack (CR 605.4a), like [[Wild Growth]] for example. Because Firebending does go to the Stack, it can be copied with cards like [[Strionic Resonator]] but this also means they can be countered with cards like [[Stifle]].

Last thing I had someone ask about was the card [[Mana Reflection]], does it work if a non-Vigilance creature with Firebending were to attack. Sadly, no, even if you are tapping the creature because they don't have Vigilance, they're being tapped in order to declare as an attacker, not in order to produce mana, that's just a result of what happens when they do attack. So you're not tapping them in a way that the Reflection would modify.

That's all I have for now, are there any other weird scenarios anyone can think of with Firebending, any specific cards that might have a strange interaction with it?
