I (22m) love cars, I want to learn a trade, and I'm seriously considering a career in this field, but I hear a lot of conflicting statements. I'd appreciate any input, thank you.

Would a technical college be worth it? Are there beginner positions I could take right now, that would train me? I don't have any work experience besides what simple thing's I've done to my own car. I've seen people mention ASE certs, looking for gov't jobs. I'm down in Atlanta, and I'd love some tips on what direction to go as I move forward.
