Advice for Me Tonight?
I've been 90% symptom free for 70 days, 80 if you count from the day I started Dificid in early August. The only thing I've not consumed at this point is alcohol, and for some reason it feels like the only thing between me and C Diff coming back, but I think this is all in my head as a protection mechanism if that makes sense. While the odd thing does set me off, I think we all have to recognize that most people likely have a bout of loose stool a few times a month and just don't think anything of it. All those taco bell jokes exist for a reason lol. So it's possible that even the rough bouts I have had are in fact normal and we are just hyper sensitive to it.
I had a friend ask to go out for a pint, and for the first time in MONTHS I decided to say yes. My doctor says I need to resume normal life and if I have such bad propensity for C Diff that it returns after a pint of beer it only makes the case stronger for a FMT. But he says I also need to consider that I might be overthinking this, and that I could be recovered and not have to worry about it anymore like most people who have had the infection. And this makes sense too. After all I did take Dificid this time.
It's worth noting that I haven't tested negative technically since I was diagnosed in August, but my doctor said I am likely to test false positive for 8-12+ weeks after anyway so there's no point. This must be because it's the PCR test and the other one isn't available in Canada.
Looking for advice on whether you think this all makes sense. Could I try drinking a beer? What would be the "safest" way to do this? Get one in a bottle I'm thinking might be the best bet.
