My elderly mom is addicted to Ativan

So, through a fall that led to rhabdomyolsis, my mom’s been in the hospital for the past week. It’s now come out that she’s been taking 6mg a day of Ativan for about a decade. She is 77.

A friend of hers who is a psychiatrist prescribes it via text message. I feel like someone knocked the wind out of me and I don’t know how to cope with this. Over the last decade my mom has had countless falls and health problems - broken sternum, broken wrist, two broken shoulders, and many close calls. She gets so lethargic she can’t open her eyes. And now rhabdo.

I am so angry at the psychiatrist. I am worried about my mom who is incredibly agitated in the hospital right now. I’m just feeling so sad and mixed up.
