[F4A] Zoo Flu

It's been a little over a year since the Zootropa Virus (or Zoo Flu) ravaged the Earth, infecting and subsequently transforming around six percent of the Earth's population into human-animal hybrids.

The species of these animals, as well as the severity of their changes, varied wildly. Some only experience mild changes; ears, a tail, maybe a few new bad habits. Others experienced near full conversions, with their minds and bodies both warping completely to that of their new species. Most people, though, landed somewhere in the middle, coming out as not quite human and not quite… whatever else.

In the time since the last documented infection, most countries have been keeping their infected under closely guarded quarantine, but as tensions grew amongst the populace, all curious and anxious to see what has become of their loved ones, a plan was organized to ensure safe and proper reintegration of the Changed into society.

There would be a one-year probationary period for those deemed “human” enough to function in the outside world. During this time, each of the Changed would be released into the custody of a volunteer caretaker. These caretakers would be responsible for monitoring and reporting the progress of their Changed individuals to officials. At the end of the year, these reports would be analyzed to determine the future placement of their charge.

Hello everyone! This prompt has been cooking in my head for months now, and I finally made myself write something that decently captures the feel I'm going for.

The goal of this RP would be for me to play as one of “the Changed”, an ordinary person who happened to be susceptible to a virus that stripped me of my humanity. During the last year, I have been kept in a secure facility with scientists and doctors (sometimes vets) performing studies and tests to ensure that I would be eligible for probation. Now that I'm out of there…

How much have I changed? Can I even walk on two legs? Can I speak? What animal did I transform into? How much of my mind has changed?

And where would I go?

You would be playing the volunteer who takes custody of me, but who are you?

My long-time friend deciding to help me out or take advantage in a time where I'm more vulnerable than ever?

A researcher eager to test the virus' (and my) limits?

Maybe a former partner who has moved on in the year since I was quarantined? Or maybe you never did?

A complete stranger?

The possibilities are limitless!
