Looking at buying a 2023 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid with 200,000 miles on it. What are the considerations
I am looking at buying a 2023 Toyota Rav4 Hybrid with 200,000 miles on it.
I would really appreciate your assistance thinking this through.
Of course, I am concerned that the car has a lot of ware: engine, transmission, breaks, seats, ?__?. On the other hand, I am thinking that the majority of the miles are highway miles which are supposed to be better than stop and go city miles. Also, a lot of the car is only two years old.
It is complicated by the fact that the car is being sold by a dealership. So, I can not get reliable info on how the care was used. The CarFax info for this car is extremely limited. Limited oil changes. No mention of fluid changes: transmission, axle, coolant. I am guessing that with approx ten thousand miles a month there should have be several services a year.
I am also trying to think through what things I would ask someone doing a pre-sale inspection to pay especially close attention to.
If I bought this car I would want to hold on to it for as long as possible. We have generally driven less than ten thousand miles a year. Not sure what the next five years will be like.
As I said, I am inexperienced. I have done some reading on the net. At this point I would very much appreciate the input of some experienced mechanics. Thanks in advance for any input
