Moved from Florida to San Antonio. Feeling depressed. Does it get better?

Im feeling major whiplash. I lived in an nice area in Orlando, Florida. And even though I didnt make a lot of money, everything felt so alive and scenic.

I moved to San Antonio and so far all I've seen is endless construction. I used to love driving but here it stresses me out just driving 15 minutes away. I dunno Im not trying to dunk on the place, and I haven't explored nearly enough. Does anyone have any advice, or any suggestions on things to do around town for a youngish adult? Where do people make friends? What are beautiful & fun spots to see? I live on the northeast side.
