My 9 week old is suddenly fighting daytime sleep — what’s going on?

It feels like a switch flipped overnight. Until a few days ago he would nap during the day if we held him and sometimes even slept independently. But for the past three days he has been fighting every nap, pushing his arms and legs like he is frustrated even though he is clearly exhausted.

He has also started crying in a new deeper more adult sounding way that feels different from his usual cries. What worries me most is that sometimes during these overtired crying fits he goes quiet mid cry like a silent cry and it seems like he is holding his breath.

He sometimes falls asleep while nursing but refuses bottles most of the time.

Is this a leap? A growth spurt? Something else? Any tips to help him and to save my sanity would be so appreciated.
