Almond sliver stuck in back of throat

Question pertains to minor child 15M. No medications, 48 kg, height a little over 5 feet.

He has a what appears to be a ~2 mm sliver of almond stuck in the back of his throat. It is visible when he says “aah”. Eating and drinking other things has not dislodged it. It’s been a couple hours.

Any suggestions? He is also afraid he might aspirate it in his sleep. Suggestions about how to allay that concern would also be welcome.
