Just crashed to desktop, reconnected only to be downed and dying

So when the game crashes, you can boot up again and "reconnect to the round". I did so and was just immediately on the ground, dying, no chance to respond. Then I lost everything I had. What the hell should I have done, NOT reconnect to the round so I could keep my things? What an incredible disappointment when I *was* having a good time. Especially when the consequences are this severe you really need to fix these crashes so that the poor design of the game doesn't flat out ruin things. It's one thing to be killed in PVP, it's another to be killed by the developers who you paid money to.
