Heads up to those interested in Viper Alarms

re-posting my deleted post with some edits since I did not make clear it was FL5 related

I had a Viper alarm installed on my 2025 FL5.

The receiver for the system which is mounted on the windshield had a resonant vibration/buzz @ 4mph, 14mph and 22 mph. You might encounter this same issue if you go Viper, but all hope is not lost.

CS said installation issue so I went to the installer. We examined 2 receivers out of the box and shook them. You could hear things moving around inside the housing.

I went back to CS and said it is not an installation problem, it is an engineering/design issue. They said NO but we will send you a courtesy replacement.

I said that in all likelihood the replacement will have the same flaw but sure I will try it.

I asked did any of the engineers actually try to come up with solutions like:

  • changing mounting location
  • mounting on sound deadening material
  • packing the housing with something to keep it from vibrating?

2 days later I get a call with some questions from a factory technician. The tech modified a receiver just for me and did fedex next day. Shocking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had it installed today and no more resonant vibration/buzz.

In an age where the expectation is that no one will help and buggy is the norm, I got an old school roll up your sleeves and solve a problem solution.

Just wanted to share
