Looking to Extend Life of Engine for Winter: P0024 Code
Hello,
I drive a Subaru. Over 10 years old. Took it in because it was throwing a P0024 code for camshaft position timing. The shop said fixing it would be more than it’s worth, and that it might have 6 mo. to a year left.
I’m hoping to extend the life of the vehicle, at least through winter (-30). Would an engine flush or solenoid replacement help in this case? Any other ideas?
It seems to start and run a bit rougher in the cold. The real concern is that it sometimes doesn’t accelerate quickly or well. That is hard to predict as well. I can see that being dangerous when entering traffic at high speeds.
Winter is around the corner. Normally, I would bite the bullet, but It isn’t a great time to buy a vehicle, and I’m going through a divorce. Any advice would be appreciated.
