Charlene: Somebody Knows Something

Discussion

Anyone giving this a listen?

The timeline is presented well (not in a confusing or meandering way as can be the case in coverage of long running cases). My only quibble is with the narrator’s consistent Use. Of. Dramatic. Pauses.

Obviously the subject matter is shocking and very disturbing but I feel like the music and dramatic speaking style overhype that aspect a bit. It gives it a vibe a bit like an episode of a police drama.

In many long running murder or disappearance cases you end up feeling shocked by how many scumbags, questionable people and genuinely bad sorts orbit the victim (whether they are known to have been present in that person’s life, or just in the vicinity) but this case probably has the highest level of ‘ambient vileness’ around an innocent person who needed more protection.
