Extraction method help
I’ve been trying to extract DMT from Acacia accuminata bark, but I never seem to get any decent yield. I’ve written up the method from my latest extraction. I’ve tried a few variations to this method such as varying the quantity of salt added, and heating the mixture during bark extraction or freebase extraction. The most I’ve ever managed to get is about 250mg from 400g of bark. Please have a read through and tell me what you think of this method and how it can be improved.
100 g pulverised Acacia accuminata bark, 20 g un-iodised table salt, added 1 litre of water and 10ml of 35% HCl. Agitated frequently and let sit overnight. The next morning it was filtered through a cloth, then through cotton buds to remove fine particulate. The solution was defatted twice by adding 100ml of naptha and put on high stirring with a magnetic stirrer for about 20 minutes. The two phases were then separated with a separatory flask, retaining the aqueous layer and discarding the solvent layer.
30 grams of NaOH (sodium hydroxide, or caustic soda) was dissolved in 250ml cold water, and then added to the solution with moderate stirring, resulting in a very dark red solution. After several minutes, 200ml of naptha was added, the flask sealed with parafilm and the stirring set to high for about an hour with plenty of shaking and manual mixing also. The two phases were again separated with a separatory flask, this time retaining the solvent portion. The solvent layer was poured into a Pyrex dish which was gently heated until the volume was reduced to about a tablespoon of liquid. The lid was put on the dish and placed in the freezer to crystalise overnight.
The result: A few measly little crystals.
I've suffered many such disappointments, and purchased bark from a variety of different sources in my quest to obtain more DMT.
