I am getting more lost every day (RT83 setup, please help)

Help

My husband has been really wanting a turntable setup for a long time now, but he is terrible at the whole research thing and ends up going the super expensive route because he figures if he buys the best, he can avoid the trouble. So I agreed to do the research and make the purchase for him for Christmas this year (though I am not sure how well I am doing haha).

We have decided on the RT83, and want to go the powered speaker route.

Can I just get a pre amp for this? And Fluance recommends the PA10 Phono Preamp ($140 CAD), but others have discouraged me from this decision, however I'd rather not spend more than $150 on a preamp. Is there anything wrong with the PA10 that should make me wary? Does anyone have recommendations? Someone mentioned the ART Phono Preamp ($70), but I hear mixed things.

Also for speakers, the only decent quality powered speakers I have found are the following (Polk ofc being the best, but I'd rather not spend $400 on them if I can avoid it, so would really appreciate some other recommendations or advice)

- Polk Signature Elite ES15 ($400 CAD)

- NEUMI BS5P-ARC 75-Watt ($220 CAD)

- Dayton Audio Classic B65A 140 watts ($160 CAD)

- Edifier R1280T 42 Watts ($150 CAD)
