Sore lips 3 days post surgery

My daughter had upper and lower jaw surgery. Today, day 3 post surgery, her lips are irritated by the constant insertion of the feeding tubes connected to the syringes. She has been putting Vaseline since day one. She is hungry but the soreness is stopping her from eating. Is there anything to help with it? Waiting to her back from oral surgery for ideas.
