Can a non-native get a science teaching job in China?
I wanted to ask for some advice about teaching in China. I have a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Math, and I’ve been working as a high school teacher since September 2025 (I understand I'll need at least around 2-3 year teaching experience before I can apply, I'm just planning ahead).
Here are some of my concerns:
1.I’m from Eastern Europe, so I’m not a native English speaker.
-
I don’t have an internationally recognized teaching license yet (teach now/Qts). I’m looking into getting an iPGCE later in my career.
-
Since I live in Eastern Europe, I don’t have access to A-level or GCSE teaching experience, only our local curriculum. I’m not sure if that would count for international schools.
Do you think there’s still a chance for someone like me to get a science teaching position (Physics or Math) in China, preferably in an international or bilingual school? Is there anything I can do to be a better candidate?
