Is it my or contractor's fault?

In a middle of kitchen remodel. Everything was going suspiciously smooth lol. Cabinets arrived, and when I saw the doors I knew something is very wrong. So doors are partial overlay, and of course I wanted the full overlay. I started asking questions and we all realized we never discussed overlay, we just pointed to cabinetry we already have and asked for the same look. So contractor made partial overlay doors without asking us. Yes, we saw the plans. I am so mad at myself for not noticing it. We are trying to find some solutions but they will be costly. I think it 50/50 screw-up, contractor never asked us and we never said anything except pointing at cabinets we have. Just wondering if it's 100% my stupidity or contractor should have said something?
