Dog Ate some Onion

My dog is a 12 pound Yorkie mix and he just ate a slice of onion around the size of a quarter before I could get it out of his mouth. I’m concerned but I don’t know if that is enough to make him sick or not. My vet is closed until Monday. Should I take him to the emergency vet?
