6kg in 5 months and it's exciting
I am disabled and currently don't do much exercise beyond walking around the house. But I started my weight loss journey due to needing a lower bmi for surgery, late June. I started not strictly dieting but making conscious decisions about calories, if chosing between two snacks, I would choose the one with less calories. I switched Cadbury brunch bars for special k, chocolate mooses for yakult and egg mayo for avocado egg. Eventually, not even intentionally, I started just having one slice of bread with my avocado egg and now I have switched to a veg casserole for lunch which I bulk cook in the instant pot, absolutely stacked with veg and meat, nothing else and it makes 7 portions for incredibly cheap.
I have found that I have much more restraint on portion sizes and will happily have less without feeling like I've missed out. Work had some lemon drizzle cake and breaded fried party food for our Halloween party. I had a slither of lemon cake, one of a couple of the party foods and the rest of my food that night was corn on the cob pieces and I was happy to do so. Today was a "stack your own plate" for dinner and I had a significantly smaller portion to everyone else because it was pasta and I felt totally fine to do so.
I started at roughly 93kg, not being able to get lower than 90kg since pre-pandemic. Every time I've weighed myself, it has been lower and today I weighed in at 87.2kg. I am incredibly proud and while officially, I am now within the range for surgery, I wanna see how much further I can get and seeing that progression is the biggest motivator. And I really feel like I haven't even done that much, just changed my mind set!
