HELP! on scam P2P sale - WhiteMarket [d]

Hi all,

I was looking to purchase Field Tested Specialist Gloves | Crimson Web. I found a great value pair on WhiteMarket with an ideal web pattern (ID 420) and a nice float, so I go ahead and purchase this item. I receive a trade offer for gloves but I inspect them in game first from the steam trade box, and notice they are a much worse float and have a shitty web pattern (ID 412) so I immediately tell this to WhiteMarket as I do not want these gloves as this is not what I paid for.

This happened about 24 hours ago and from my understanding WhiteMarket will not release my funds to the seller until after 7 days have passed. I have since accepted the trade offer as my safety net, but I’m just presuming surely they just give me my refund and don’t care about the seller at all in this scenario because they have scammed me? WhiteMarket are at fault here for letting this person advertise a skin they did not possess. If they refund my money, the seller can just retract their trade to me and go try scam somewhere else?

I’ve contacted WhiteMarket and they actually initially said there is nothing they can do, when obviously they can? It’s now been “escalated” and they will get back to me once a solution is created. It’s really not that difficult of a solution like am I going crazy here? Worse case scenario I will be requesting a refund from my card merchant because I have not received what I paid for.
