Worried my baby boy may have some type of syndrome. How to proceed?
I’m getting a bit worried that my 10 month old baby boy might have something going on developmentally or genetically.
He’s a healthy, happy baby overall - about 23 lbs, no medications, good appetite, sleeps well, and generally seems content. However, he was born with a medium congenital nevus on his chest (around 5 x 4 cm). Dermatology said it’s nothing to worry about, and he doesn’t have any other birthmarks or spots. Just mentioning this in case it may be relevant.
What’s giving me pause is his motor development. He’ll be 10 months on Monday and:
He can sit well if placed but cannot get into or out of sitting on his own.
He’s not crawling or showing much interest in crawling. Can’t even army crawl.
He’s not trying to pull to stand at all.
He can roll both ways and pivot on his tummy but mostly prefers to stay seated or lie on tummy and play. Will roll to an object if he can’t reach.
He’s otherwise very social, babbles, laughs, and seems cognitively on track. But I can’t help noticing how different he is compared to his older brother at this age (who was crawling and pulling up by now).
His eyes are also quite widely spaced (not enough for him to look weird but more so than parents or older bro) and down-turned.
Is this within the normal range of development, or could it be a sign of an underlying issue or syndrome?
Thank you so much for your time and any insight you can provide.
