Sometimes I don't feel I'm good enough for my boy

Today we went for an early morning walk, and a couple with their two children, babies, walked past. We sat and waited them to pass but my boy did bark. I'm totally understanding of people being nervous around big dogs, especially mothers, but this woman gave my dog such an intense look of hatred and disgust, it instantly made me feel a rush of rage and heartbreak.

I apologised and we instantly turned around and went home, but I can't shake the feeling Im failing him. The bar is so high for our fur babies to be well behaved because of the stereotype / fear that theyre dangerous. Its my job to keep him safe, and that includes giving strangers no reason to judge, abuse or report him. He is a beautiful sweet boy, he loves children and old ppl, he loves other dogs, he is just very vocal unfortunately.

Just needed to vent and share. Can't stop hugging him today, I hope he knows hes so loved.
