Is my (26M) girlfriend’s(23F) texting style just normal, or am I used to too much intensity from my ex?

I’m (26M) dating my girlfriend (23F) for a few months now, and we’re long distance. My last relationship lasted 4 years, and my ex was very intense over text: constant emotional check-ins, long paragraphs, and a lot of expression of feelings. My current girlfriend is the complete opposite.

She’s affectionate and warm in person, but over text she’s pretty minimal. For example, after we spent a whole week together, she went to the airport and later that night just texted “I miss you.” That was it. No long follow-up.

I don’t feel bad about it, but it does feel weird by comparison, and I’m trying to figure out what’s “normal.” Is this just how some people communicate when they’re secure and comfortable, or is it a sign that she’s emotionally distant?

We get along great in person, and she’s consistent with communication, just not expressive. My gut says she’s fine. But I’d love to hear others’ experiences.

TL;DR: Ex was super intense over text, current girlfriend is calm and brief even though we’re long-distance. Trying to figure out if that’s normal or if she’s unusually emotionally reserved.
