The Truth
As a Chiefs fan, born and raised. Let me share my opinion of your woes.
KS wanted DG because he thought he was the perfect QB for his system. Unfortunately for KS, DG hasn't played well. Which could be more of his system than DG. Tbh.
Putting SS in could expose both because he improvises a lot. Thus the fake injury to relieve pressure on DG against the Pats. Removing the pressure on DG didn't help. He knows SS is waiting for his downfall.
Haslem doesn't want to overstep, especially after giving KS an extension. It's obvious the GM doubted KS wanting DG, it's obvious to everyone except KS that DG wasn't that guy. Andrew took SS in the 5th to basically save his job and it really was a value pick.
So now both the owner and GM are stepping back. Letting KS explain himself to the media. He can't just fire him, without letting go of his entire staff too. Paying two coaches and their coordinators is never idea. That's why KS is so confident. He's doubling down hoping that DG plays a good game to basically say "see here's some progress".
Unfortunately as an outsider, no one cares if his west coast style system is outdated and garbage. Browns fans want wins, as an outsider we want to see SS. We've seen enough of DG to know he is a backup at best.
So essentially KS made a bad decision, he's doubling down because he already overstepped in the draft. This is career suicide and he knows it. He's just hoping for a miracle and you guys have to suffer for it.
This isn't about race, or the fact he hates SS. It's politics. KS entire career is on the line. The front office is letting him hang himself. So when they step in and strip him of any responsibilities and quietly make the OC or QB coach the offensive play caller, it looks like they gave KS every opportunity.
Wish yall luck, this is a bad situation. Andrew did him dirty trading the veteran QBs. He basically said you suck, let me take away your safety net so everyone can see. Putting in SS is basically KS admitting he was wrong. No owner will ever trust him again with their team. R.I.P guys, sorry it's always you.
