I picked up this Bosch Dust Extractor/Shop vac a while ago because it can attach to tools and act as a hepa filter for sawdust and such when woodworking. My wife and I made the mistake a few months ago of testing it out around the house and we’re absolutely blown away by how much better of a job it did than our current vacuum at pretty much everything. We didn’t know our carpets could even be that bright and on hardwood it would pull things in from a couple inches away. The downside is it’s an absolute nightmare to maneuver around the house especially with stairs and stuff.

Our normal vacuum is one of the Shark Navigator Lift Aways that always gets great reviews but it’s kind of underwhelming. It has always been just ok on hardwood, and on carpet it does fine but nowhere near as good as the dust extractor. It’s also super awkward to use on stairs.

So my question is, has anybody found a buy once type vacuum that is convenient to maneuver around the house, carry upstairs, etc. that also has vacuum up anything not attached to the ground levels of suction? Or is that unrealistic given the size difference between the Bosch Unit and a typical vacuum?

On the other side if anybody needs a combination of Hepa Vaccuum, Dust Extractor, and Wet/Dry vacuum this thing has been able to handle pretty much anything I’ve thrown at it over the last few years. Can strongly recommend as a buy once type device for cars/garage/shop type situations.

Any Vacuums that are convenient and have good suction?
