Concerns About My Storytelling Art
I am someone with a very vivid imagination and also very limited art skills. My skills are only limited to imaginative monsters/creatures/aliens. I cannot draw humans or backgrounds or anything really other than things that don’t exist. But with my imagination I have so many ideas for stories I want to tell through pictures. Think Marcus Yu for example. His story telling through pictures and sounds is incredible I just don’t have the skills that he has for humans and backgrounds. For example I would take a picture of a forest, turn it black and white, add grainy texture, mess with the lighting a bit, and then add my creature drawings on top of that, so my art on top of a filtered picture.
My post is would people hate my stories if I use real life pictures and give them a black and white/grainy filter and use those to tell my stories? I will still be adding my own touch to these images to make them not complete copy and pasted, and I’ll still include a load of my own drawings. It’s just like landscapes and structures I can’t do it very well. I’d rather use images with a filter than use AI images to create the backgrounds. I just don’t want these stories and ideas to remain in my head, I want to give them life but I don’t want them to be frowned upon and the stories to be given up by people before they even read them because the backgrounds and other features of the stories aren’t “real art”.
Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!
